A Chair is a Chair
Mood:  vegas lucky
Topic: Answering the Enemy

Don't get the wrong idea about the "mood icon," please! I'm not about to go to Vegas and see if I'm a high roller or anything. And I don't live by luck at all. I live by faith in Christ Jesus.

However, while I was sitting a lovely park today interceding and watching some workers constructing an ice skating rink for the winter, a man came over to chat. He mentioned he moved from Vegas to this city.

After he did a little research chatting to see if I was married, he began his pitch to try and coerce me into enjoying the nightlife with him. He suggested we go dancing and have fun.

When I politely refused he commented, "Oh, because you belong to Jesus Christ (I had mentioned my relationship with the Lord) in response to some of his questions)."

"Yes." I replied.

He was less than enthused about my answer. He commented that some people believe that this life is all about pain and suffering and try to make something bad out of something good.

My answer was that some people believe that the life of a believer in Christ Jesus is dull and boring. "But it's not so." I told him. "My life in Christ has been adventurous and joyful. Yes. I have had some pain and suffering. But I have also had a lots of fun!"

Since we were sitting in green chairs in the park, he decided to use one for an illustration about good versus evil. "Some people try to make a chair brown when it is really green," he continued.

"Oh, I'm glad you used that illustration, I responded. "Often when I'm ministering I will also use a chair as an illustration of good versus evil. For example, one mignt choose not to believe a chair is a chair. I believe the entire bible, the old and new testaments and that what God has ordained to happen is going to happen whether people believe it or not."

With that answer the man got up out of his seat and excused himself.

Satan tried to use the man to tempt me by twisting the truth, which is so like him. But I gave him back the truth of the Word, and he left me for the time being. Praise God!
